Thread: Soundblaster awe64 value (ct4520)


xubuntu 12.04
got pentium 3 hardware detected exept soundcard soundblaster awe64 value (ct4520) try several thing on several day , cant have result exept noise comming out card change when assing isa slot irq5 in bios

(type "sudo nano /etc/modules" in terminal, add "snd-sbawe" @ separate line, save, quite, restart. 8.10- additionally add user (here x) group audio "sudo adduser x audio" , reboot.)

wont work. @ worst install xubuntu 8.10 before wondering if there way

tryed modprobe snd-sb16 . alsamixer in consol...say there not such directory (the file in /etc/modul/ check it)
uninstall reinstall alsa-utils wont work.. apt gnome alsa mixer in ubuntu store... ass click on hardware apt crash

am not sure did right git command

git clone git://git.alsa-project.org/alsa-driver.git

far try several thing , dont have clue should try next if have sugestion awesome

this ubuntu wiki page has additional instructions isa cards.

generally, avoid isa cards, on pentium 3. could, example, buy soundblaster live! (even 5.1 version) on ebay less $10.
