hello dear community, haven't posted while. i'll try short detailed. laptop: acer aspire 5560 sb 6 13 quad core a8 3500m gpu: amd 6620g.
came win 7 preinstalled. took gparted, erase recovery. wanted dual boot, laptop uefi, created new disk table, type gpt, installed windows 7 no problem @ all, when tried install ubuntu, did not detected win 7 partitions, tried dmraid -re, nothing changed, way able see partitions partedmagic: ie. fix protected mbr, win 7 installs, after ubuntu installer gets see win 7 partitions, ok installed, went ok, after reboot(which btw didnt go well, because ubuntu hangs on shutdown , reboot, acpi=off acpi=noirq, init 6, init 0 shutdown -h poweroff, etc). when grub showed up. showed ubuntu options. went research, found this. refind. installed updated grub, , started show win7 option, when select it, goes grub. far, have manage do, dual boot gpt uefi install in acer aspire 5560 sb 613 efi boot. btw: think hanging in shutdown , reboot due kernel, 3.8xx version in arch linux, fedora , others dont handle too. hope give information , can work out. best regards.

if system windows 7, not have issues of secure boot.

need use 64 bit version of 12.10 or 12.04.2 , uefi menu boot flash drive in uefi mode. way install in uefi mode.
systems need quick boot or fast boot turned off in uefi settings. vital systems. best backup efi partition , windows partition first.
use windows disk tools shrink windows main partition, not create new partitions, if installing on same drive.

of 12.04.2, possible install on uefi systems secure boot enabled (using signed versions of shim, grub, , linux kernel). set ubuntu (desktop, alternate, , server) , edubuntu images due pressures of time; expect enable across entire ubuntu family 12.04.3. details:
