Thread: netbook worthy distros

hey there!

run kubuntu on acer aspire 1 netbook , feels if more time passes, distro get's slower , slower.
fresh install runs lighting - doesn't play video without image lagging out, windows take forever open ...

here's thing, i'm tried of happening. of course netbook , 1gb ram - can't asking right?
looked possible options of other distros supposed worthy, solid , efficient on netbooks, don't know - other standard - ubuntu - kubuntu ...
opinion on continuously run efficiently, not loose it's 'umpfh' after time. try myself guys recommend.

recommendations listed follows.
eeebuntu
opengeeeu
mandriva
puppy linux
opensuse 11
gos cloud
cruncheee
slax
debian
fedora

got them this (site, have small explanation - take forever try each 1 netbook system. other distro work on netbooks more welcome of course.

use comp for.
writing, reading, browsing, small bit of downloading, music (guayadeque), videos. nothing overly complex.
looks nice, editable (to extent) has different program options , , importantly runs when tell run , has been told, endless hours not spend trying find out problem - if there 1 start with.

thank , help.

first of all, list terrible, it's few years out of date , of distros obsolete.

second, there no need switch distros---you can install lightweight desktop such xfce or lxde described here:

http://www.psychocats.net/ubuntu/xfce

personall run fuduntu (gnome 2 desktop) on netbook (asus eee 900ha 1.6ghz atom, 1gb ram, , 160gb hdd). it's fine one-thing @ time, non-multitasking, non-multimedia machine. have more powerful desktop , laptop use tasks.

hope helpful.
