Thread: D-Link DWA-131 Version B not recognized on 12.04 Live USB

i boot 12.04 usb stick on dell inspiron e1505. wireless works great old netgear usb wireless-n adapter, know live usb stick ok , works fine laptop hardware in general.

d-link works in windows on same laptop, not recognized whether booting ubuntu plugged in or booting ubuntu first , plugging in adapter. doesn't show when lsusb.

have read many posts on this, seem dated, either referring previous version of adapted or previous version of ubuntu. believe using ndis wrapper considered outmoded, , kernel drivers should "just work". tried adapter on laptop has 12.04 installed , updated, doesn't work in 1 either.

not sure here if should trying driver source (realtech?) , compiling myself, or trying ndis, or avoid hassle getting compatible network adapter should have done in first place.

in advance help/guidance.
