"Text" Crashes when adding new captions; disconnects from "Styles," etc.

running windows 8.1, nvidia geforce gtx 770 display adapter, 32gb ram, 7tb of hdd space, i7 intel cpu, etc.

 

application: adobe premiere elements 12

 

after selecting "text -> new text -> default text" menu bar idea of adding caption video clip, appears after 1 or 2 successful attempts text module disconnects style module; "absalom" becomes defaulted font, series of "uuu uuu uuu" characters appears in caption overlay screen, , no changes can made, i.e., cannot change text, nor can pick new style match previous styles in use!

 

sure use this...i've posted several items far , have received no help, no fixes, of these pleas help. far, i've experienced typical adobe, , if want "fixes" problems associated apps, we're supposed wait , purchase next updates?

let focus on premiere elements 12 workspace issue.

 

1. please review usual drill

a. latest version of quicktime installed

b. running program run administrator , user account administrative privileges

c. video card/graphics card driver version date according web site of manufacturer of video card/grapics card

d. computer optimized

 

with of "1" given....

 

2. delete premiere elements 12 adobe premiere elements prefs file. windows 8.1 64 bit, path is

local disk c

users

owner

appdata

roaming

adobe

premiere elements

12.0

and in 12.0 folder adobe premiere elements prefs file delete. if not work, delete whole 12.0 folder in adobe premiere elements prefs file exists. make sure working folder option show hidden files, folders, , drives active can see complete path. if not find adobe premiere elements prefs file, have gone off path. each of entries represents folder. not mistake premiere elements 12.0 folder in adobe folder premiere elements folder in 12.0 folder exists.

 

if need clarification on written, please not hesitate ask.
