Thread: Has Nouveau been problematic for you?

i'm running i3 desktop nvidia gt440, using 1920x1080 , 1440x900 monitors. booted 13.04 64 bit , within 30 minutes had 3 unity crashes. on 1 occasion, upside down , locked up. using , bam - chromium, empathy, , clementine - upside down. locked few seconds later. 2 hard reboots later (the first reboot brought me single monitor mode seemingly horrible 640x480 esque resolution), on. @ point decided install nvidia drivers. didn't want install nvidia drivers because wanted give nouveau fair chance seeing though reviews indicated nouveau pretty darn close nvidia these days in terms of performance. installed nvidia 313 + updates , things load faster , operate more smoothly. noticed applications lens when scrolling through applications smoother well.

of being said, has ran issues graphics 13.04 , nouveau acts rather wild? have ton of faith in nouveau , i'm sure bug fixes come about. wanted check in other users see current experiences were.

nouveau works as have used , splash screen looks black purple flash use nividia instead. 3.13 has been best on hardware , ive tested them all.

a week ago in premiere pro cs6 world. one day updated windows, next day few .mp4 video files opened in premiere pro, played fine well, except fact display has green (sometimes multicolour, solid green block) bars in lower third of screen. see screenshot below.   these same files open/display fine in after effects, photoshop , vlc- , quicktime players. i'd read fromyears ago windows updates causing this, removed 1 of therecent kb's no avail. i did install adobemediaencodertrial_64-6.0.3-mul-adobeupdate and dynamiclinkmediaserverretail-1.0.1-mul-adobeupdate and reverted quicktime 7.6 but nothing makes difference.   in end, formatted c:\, reinstalled windows 7 ultimate 64bit , downloaded/installed 260 updates , reinstalled cs6 (and aforementioned ame , dlms updates , qt7.6) it's still same problem.   also tried exporting (part of) 1 of these files, see if wasn't display problem: exported file same properties original has green bars.   what else can do?   thanks in advanc
