Thread: minidisplay port almost working on dell xps 15 l521x

hello!

on laptop, there hdmi port , mini display port. have whole bumblebee/optimus thing setup , working great.

far can tell, both hdmi port , mini display port connected intel card, news!

problem is, hdmi port 'just works'. minidisplay port seems detect , possible id monitor (according the xorg.0.log), display tools not seem recognize going on.

using minidisplay port dvi adapter monoprice. same thing below happens if use minidisplayport vga. both work in windows.

when plug mini display port, screen flickers, xrandr -q shows exact same info if nothing plugged in. but, xorg.0.log shows following... same thing hdmi, missing last line! (when run display tool, monitor not show up).

log xorg.8.log ... optimus/bumblebee stuff has nothing of interest , display=:8 xrandr -q shows single 'screen' @ 640x480

have no xorg.conf file.

uneducated guessing looks x not taking next step , setting things on display port?

just update...

figured out of statements above wrong... here updates:

- xorg.0.log not show being plugged dp1 had thought.... info built-in lcd! know because tried plugging 1600x1200 monitor , exact same thing printed, specs lcd , not specs external monitor.

- tried xorg-edgers ppa updated intel driver , else. did not fix anything.

- i've been searching things 'ubuntu intel display port monitor not detected' , , possibly found people similar problems, no real solution.

so... i'll revise question to: xorg startup log shows dp1 there, , xrandr shows dp1 there, how detect being plugged in?
