Thread: wireless scanner was not being found by Xsane or Simple scan

i've been going nuts few days since brother mfc-7840w wireless scanner not being found xsane or simple scan. confirmed driver installed per brother linux website.

ran brsaneconfig3 -d, showed , pinged device ok. showed ip address 192.168.1.101 on wireless network (there way check , set ip address on machine itself. see manual)

anyway poking around configuration settings , found file /usr/local/brother/sane/brsanenetdevice3.cfg. when opened see 1 line of text:

device=scanner , "mfc-7840w" , 0x4f9:0x1e5 , ip-address=192.168.1.100

so, change ip address 192.168.1.101. close file , xsane , simple scan both work!
