Thread: 2 things. First fail to upgrade to 12.10 from 12.04, Second making custom scripts...

so first thing tried upgrade on laptop (asus k52jr) ubuntu 12.04 64bit, 12.10 64bit, failed complete upgrade. did partial. (off of memory tried few days ago)

second can post me information on how program things ubuntu. want make context menu script automatic run script install tar files.

ie: right click tar file, install (runs script extract folder. install. delete folder) automatic based on files name , directory, have programming knowledge need know languages ubuntu uses such thing , need install it. cannot seem find info through random google searches.

generally speaking, cannot automate installing programs sources (iiuc mean with install tar files). cited sequence
code:
tar xf program-version.tar.gz cd program-version make sudo make install
work if prerequisites installed. prerequisites in each particular case described in files install or readme inside tarball.
