Thread: Clean up rootkit / check firmware integrity

hello.

i'm in unfortunate position of having laptop hijacked. how know? intruder told me. powered off laptop 10-15 times (in single day), injected (subtle) messages in browser, revealing he's looking @ me through webcam.

anyway - format , clean install did nothing. he's still there, it's storing code in expansion rom (firmware) or bios.

i'll attempt following strategy:

test integrity of firmware , bios, , reflash been altered.

i'm technically minded have no extended computer background. so, question is: how do it? useful links example?

there tutorials on web creating bootable cd freedos , flashing program. download correct rom , spin live cd boots freedos. run flashing program , hope new rom loads ok. put tape on camera.
