Thread: Can't install nvidia-current after installing hardware enablement stack

hello. first post in ubuntu forums.

running 12.04 precise pangolin lts. installed lts hardware enablement stack using following command:

sudo apt-get install linux-generic-lts-quantal xserver-xorg-lts-quantal

installed correctly. rebooted new kernel , found works, uninstalled old kernel 3.2.0 , restarted again.

strangely, cannot install package nvidia-current. here output:

$ sudo apt-get install nvidia-current
reading package lists... done
building dependency tree
reading state information... done
packages not installed. may mean have
requested impossible situation or if using unstable
distribution required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of incoming.
following information may resolve situation:

following packages have unmet dependencies:
nvidia-current : depends: xorg-video-abi-11
depends: xserver-xorg-core (>= 2:1.10.99.901)
e: unable correct problems, have held broken packages.

question: there special steps needed install nvidia-current on 12.04 hardware enablement?

furthermore, wanted know why there failed dependency, ran

$ apt-cache show xserver-xorg-core-lts-quantal | grep provides:

, gave me following:

provides: xorg-input-abi-18, xorg-renamed-package, xorg-renamed-package-lts-quantal, xorg-video-abi-13, xserver-xorg-core

xserver-xorg-core-lts-quantal provides xserver-xorg-core, wondering why apt-get thinks xserver-xorg-core not installed?

xorg need accept abi > 11, have not yet been upgraded; have wait
