Thread: Dual boot with Windows XP

hello again system same last thread except following changes - no nvidia geforce 210 graphics card - no 160gb ide spare hdd..

windows xp pro on c: wd640gb , f: wd500gb empty..

wish (with help) make dual boot system ubuntu 12.04.2 alt amd64 version on half f: hdd , other half storage.

have finish defrag on c: after moving , cleaning up..

before else there need or before running install disk?

that depends on whether there on f. if not you're go.

if there stuff don't want risk on there, bit more complicated. if drive not allready divided 2 or more partitions of suitable size i'd if haven't allready. should anyway. if have stuff on there don't want wipe out, you'll need partitioning either windows or after booting live cd (i.e., installer) , selecting "try" option, not "install" option. install option gives limited repartitioning capabilities in case need little more sophisticated allow shrink or grow partition or partitions on there create in resulting empty space partition (or many partitions want use install ubuntu to) or if have enough partions adjust sizes seems appropriate. end 1 or more partitions plan install ubuntu don't have of data on them.
