Thread: A directory/folder has disappeared.

large , important 'directory' has disappeared hard drive. directory had between 50 or 60 sub-directories , @ least 1000 files, pdfs, , images. became aware of shortly after using file manager transfer images sans disc in card reader subdirectory in directory disappeared.
went these forums read recovery. saw lots of post on recovering file little on recovering directories.
took image 5 minutes after happened.

back in 8 bit era, (motorola 6809 , microware os-9), had raw disk editor let open disk in raw mode , edit/search data of file allocation table find location of files or directories. such animal exits linux?code:dave@dafydd:/var/log$ dmesg | grep sda1 [ 1.367947] sda: sda1 sda2 < sda5 > [ 2.062512] ext4-fs (sda1): mounted filesystem ordered data mode. opts: (null) [ 19.349960] ext4-fs (sda1): re-mounted. opts: errors=remount-ro,user_xattr dave@dafydd:/var/log$
if can put me on recovery applications, appreciate it. directory location of code/images/stuff club website administer.
