Thread: PS3 Media Server not opening, java not found

hello,

first time posting on forums i've tried everthing , cannot find answer anywhere. problm unable run ps3 media server (pms) on ubuntu 12.10. run 32 bit edition on laptop.

when try open pms unity menu nothing happens, , when try open terminal command "ps3mediaserver" output

/usr/bin/ps3mediaserver: 34: exec: /usr/local/java/jdk*/bin/java: not found

when first installed pms worked wonderfully, installed open jdk , open jre try minecraft working , ever since i've had problem. i've given on minecraft now. assumed pms did not run open java , needed oracle java instead.

in attempts fix pms i've purged java using these instructions , uninstalled pms best of ability. re-installed java 7 oracle using these instructions. re-installed pms ppa using these commands:

sudo add-apt-repository
ppa:happy-neko/ps3mediaserver
sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install ps3mediaserver

pms still didn't work , got same output terminal. thought maybe pms didn't work java 7 , installed java 6 using these instructions. still no luck.

have ideas?

update:

uninstalled pms again using

sudo apt-get purge ps3mediaserver
rm -rf ~/.config/ps3mediaserver

and purging java again using same process used before. try installing open java again , try instead other java removed. if doesn't work plan try plex, alternative application not java based, working. i'll report once i've figured out or once i'm stumped again.
