Why is AE running so slow?

so first time using after effects cc on newly built pc. imported 15 min long 1080p 60fps video ae, , unusable! entire interface lags, won't play video, takes forever move time indicator, effects take years render, , won't respond when try add comp adobe media encoder queue. meanwhile video edits , runs smoothly in final cut pro x on 15" macbook pro. gives? pc specs include i7 4770k oced 4.2 ghz, 8 gb of ram 1600mhz, gtx 780 ti oced 1.2 ghz, , wd black 7200 rpm 1tb hdd.

this first time using cc new after effects? ae not nle , previews need rendered. comparing after effects final cut comparing artist canvas , paint photographer dslr. both make images, process artist uses different process photographer does. suspect have not used frame based, layer based compositing app before , new ae.

 

there have been reports , several threads on laggy ui on windows machines.

 

please tell more can help.

Illustrator CS5 javascript JPEG export 300 DPI & max quality
