Grouping fields from different layers should retain assigned layers

i use grouping tool lot move , adjust multiple text boxes , fields, however, i've found grouping changes assigned layer of each field , puts on single layer.  helpful if layers retained when grouping multiple fields different layers.  now, understand can select individual fields using "shift" key, however, can frustrating if happen make adjustments or move fields lot.  i'd rather select group instead of each field separately, don't want assigned level change.

like said above, realize select each of fields , them move them together, move , adjust fields lot , gets frustrating.  group feature works moving multiple fields, don't want layers change.
