Thread: Anyone using Asterisk or doing SIP VOIP calls using Ubuntu?

asterisk working here , changed. i'm wondering if other people have been using asterisk on ubuntu , enjoying free calls. have dial tone box, me strange since life phone company provided that. got love it!

here's problem , stuck , stumped why problem. it's going little technical.

need know if covered or missed something.

took entire system on location , confirmed working ok, packets sent , registration happens ok , that, calls go out etc...

reason can't register anymore sip provider. recorded packets using tcpdump @ both locations compare registration vs. bad one.

same (except outside ip) ips provider correct , same.

when it's bad - see options packet go out , ok packet comes provider @ location. know nat routing working , allows udp packets originating computer.

next thing sent registration, , nothing comes back! @ location, registers , sends final ok @ end should.

don't know changed, open on routers, no firewall blocking, , when think it, if port 5060 blocked, why option "ok" packet?

remember, not password problem, don't think packet ever gets sip provider or somehow doesn't computer. minimum should un-authorized or sip provider if password problem, or format problem in packet, nothing comes back.

strange , don't understand why. other stuff web browsing works, doing ssh etc.. , tried using program called "ekiga" program based sip call program , has same registration problem ekiga sip servers! it's not sip provider in particular.

thing possibly "stateful" packet filter sees registration , blocks it. isp shouldn't doing because allow voip such magic jack etc...

ideas? i'm stuck!

i use linphone great success
