Thread: Lenovo Z580 and other Lenovo laptops

there several threads mentioning same problem: ubuntu booting after huge delay of 20 minutes. seems boils down lenovo laptops, many of them variant of z580.
seems ubuntu based distributions (maybe debian too?) have got problem firmware / bios handling battery. removing battery before boot solves problem, 1 has have power cord plugged in. after boot battery can put in , fine.
more elegant solution has been posted here:https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1093217/comments/63

however, feel ubuntu being popular distro , many of users happen new linux or @ least not technical, there should simpler solution compiling , diving depth of grub configuration files. after all, distros opensuse 12.2 &12.3 , fuduntu boot without problem. due differences in /sys/firmware/acpi/tables/dsdt files?

have tried several months , hoping ubuntu 13.04 might solve issue, doesn't. since have been working mint & ubuntu years now, prefer distros on opensuse, has come long way in ease of use. way things done , choice of software in repositories ubuntu & mint makes favorites.

idea can done?

completely agree. i've been having same experience z580 , hoping new kernel in ubuntu 13.4 make difference.

on bug tracking thread referred to, there seemed ray of hope here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+s...7/comments/103

in recent update, same author less positive things: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+s...7/comments/107

issue still not assigned anyone, i'm not optimistic proper fix while
