Thread: Mounted Network Share not Fully Working on Third Party Machines

have interesting thing going on. isn't practical issue, since can around it, interested know causing it.

setup:

1) external usb drive attached winxp pro sp3 machine. drive used backups, , shared \\lenovo\e

2) \\lenovo\e mounted on ubuntu 11.04 machine /data2/shared/backups. /data2/shared shared folder vbox vm (win xp pro sp3), issue present irrespective of whether vm (or vbox itself) running, doubting factor (but mentioning in case!)

3) if run winxp pro sp3 vm in vbox, sees /backups directory perfectly.

4) third winxp pro sp2 (not sp3) machine, can see /data2/shared fine. can see /backups directory in there, , files in /backups. however, directories inside /backups appear files of size 0 on winxp pro sp2 machine.


why be?

realise trying bounce through multiple connections / links / mounts etc, perhaps seeing files wonder @ all, intrigued why directories don't show directories.

said above, not practical issue, since can connect winxp pro sp2 machine directly \\lenovo\e , works you'd expect.
