My jpeg file size is reduced

hi all,

 

on mac osx, when change in photoshop cc jpeg images size of around 57mb 72dpi 300dpi.

after change, image still 57mb want.

however, once save desktop or other folder, file size changes around 6mb.

prior today, working fine on 1 year.

 

this issue happening photoshop elements 11.

 

what happening here , how fix it?

i'm not sure understand. in image size, change 72 dpi 300 dpi, , file smaller when save it? file resampled when changed dpi setting? file dimensions left same in original file?

 

what happens when open smaller file? same? have same pixel dimensions?

 

if so, suspect original file not jpeg, other non-compressed format. jpeg lossy, compressed format, designed make image files smaller in size.
