Thread: Emulating z/OS Hercules, under ubuntu ISSUE zlib.

so several friend , decided know little bit more in mainframes , since ibm getting payed(we not pay entire mainframe can educate) learned little bit more hercules , hole emulation of it, ok managed whole architecture emulated when have 'install' or 'initialize' (which suits more) z/os os on 'mainframe' emulated dasd issue:

this error occurs when type ipl 0a81 - ipl stands initial program load if know mainframe understand if not -> considered loading os device/drive , 0a81 drive/device.

since not have whole high-tech library multiple devices, hercules emulate users.

here emulation 'type' or extension or .. dunno how call in linux language

so i've read , understood zlib working cckd type of files kind of archived files or such/so. but! when ubuntu software centre , typed in search bar 'zlib' , downloaded there (believe me 1 one click terrible thing). anyways, problem persists, read somewhere in ibm forum , gave shot to: sudo apt-get install zlib* , started install around 780 mb packages or so. thing not working , continue spits out error.

funny thing 1 of our colleagues managed run whole hercules z/os ect emulated system on suse , centos, since i've started ubuntu i'd run whole thing under ubuntu.

please assist. important , need guidance here

seems suggest zlib needs compiled in @ build time.

think you'll need install package when building it.
