Thread: Is it safe to upgrade to Raring, What Breaks ??

just backed home , ready upgrade know going break , got 12.10 stable

have feedback,

break conkycolors
cairodock
should change theme default
nvidia driver issues
disable thiurd party ppa's
etc

advise or issues encountered of us.

if have nvidia gpu, use mainline kernel

when upgraded used debian method, changing sources point raring
did not disable ppas (getdeb/medibuntu)
made them point raring (if exist yet, if not leave on qunatal)
0 issues upgrading, did during beta phase
if upgrade now, install mainline kernel 3.8.8 or 3.9 rc8 (my install script makes easy, see above)

Some mp4 files not displaying correctly (CS6)

a week ago in premiere pro cs6 world. one day updated windows, next day few .mp4 video files opened in premiere pro, played fine well, except fact display has green (sometimes multicolour, solid green block) bars in lower third of screen. see screenshot below.   these same files open/display fine in after effects, photoshop , vlc- , quicktime players. i'd read fromyears ago windows updates causing this, removed 1 of therecent kb's no avail. i did install adobemediaencodertrial_64-6.0.3-mul-adobeupdate and dynamiclinkmediaserverretail-1.0.1-mul-adobeupdate and reverted quicktime 7.6 but nothing makes difference.   in end, formatted c:\, reinstalled windows 7 ultimate 64bit , downloaded/installed 260 updates , reinstalled cs6 (and aforementioned ame , dlms updates , qt7.6) it's still same problem.   also tried exporting (part of) 1 of these files, see if wasn't display problem: exported file same properties original has green bars.   what else can do?   thanks in advanc
