Thread: Problem created by partitioning by gparted live cd

hi
relatively new ubuntu user , have acer laptop , upgraded 12.04 ubuntu 10.04 . decided make partition installing windows 7 , used gparted live cd . had no allocated space available had move large 476 gb partition available. started moving , after reaching 75gb gave me input/output error . think ignored stopped. not further pushed power button. started again , got : ''your system running in low-graphics mode'' , ''your screen, graphics cards, , input device settings not detected correctly. need configure these yourself.'' tried search error , got fatal server error:
server active display 0
if server no longer running, remove /tmp/.x0-lock
, start again.
run cd ubuntu 10.04 , reinstalled , while doing had choice install in different partition ( approximately 15gb) not available before.. did , worked fine. found of previous files , can run them ,from previous large partition ( shortened way ) lets me read files , not store anything. tried boot 12.04 kernel recovery mode , did such failsafe mode , clear data , grub update , flxc , nothing fixes problem.. if reboot recovery mode appears black , not move on. if boot start normal mode gives me low-graphics mode .
appreciate help.

instead of reinstalling 10.04 could've downloaded , installed 12.04. or did you?
suggestion: download , install 12.04.

more info needed 'previous large partition':
/home or ordinary partition?
file system have?
automounted boot or manually mount it?

try changing permissions 'read/write' with:

code:
sudo chown -r ioannis:ioannis /media/xyz
assuming partition mounted /media/xyz , username ioannis.

don't understand mean "i tried boot 12.04 kernel recovery mode"?
