How Can Make a Large Background Image For A Website (reduced file size)?

hi, want edit large photo fits width of browser (i'm using responsive layout). image needs small file size loads quick enough.... question tricks or adjustments within photoshop can reduce file size of image whilst maintaing large image size. heard adding noise can reduce file size or something? there other effects this?

these days high speed broadband internet connections images file size not of problem.  mobile devices can load image using broadband or high speed phone data services. number of pixels have high resolution photo not fit within web page designed fit within display pixel width. images need resize using interpolation reduce number of pixel have image fit within number of pixels display supports.  reduce file size. have no idea mean  when write "i'm using responsive layout".   emergence of small mobile devices has become necessary design alternative web pages support these devices smaller display sizes.  high resolution mobile displays image resized larger displays way work need use larger text designed high resolution displays.  high resolution displays need web pages have text sized readable on high resolution displays. there many laptops , tablets large high resolution displays these days.
