Thread: Moving to Ubuntu from Windows tentatively :)

good afternoon,

have been searching forums not seeing clear answers questions. long term windows user, no surprise. friend put me on ubuntu , far loving it.

dual booting windows 7 in case shakes , need go it, far good, in fact incredibly surprised how can run on linux through wine , other methods such virtual box.

2 questions really.

1) how efficient run windows 7 in virtual box ubuntu main os? run games won't work under wine example. virtual windows install work smoothly? have not tried don't have enough space on ssd current dual boot setup.

2) once decide remove windows 7 , kill dual boot, can delete windows partition , resize ubuntu takes over?

for things virtualisation works extremely well, not gaming. virtualisation of 3d graphics cards in infancy, , performance poor. if have games work best on windows, keep windows side of dual boot. windows excellent gaming platform, no harm in using it's best at.

play games don't require decent 3d performance in vm.

yep, if like. you'd boot live disk/usb , delete partition, expand ubuntu one(s) gap.
