Thread: Ubuntu won't delete from boot option

i deleted partition had windows ubuntu, , went usb recovery media windows , did following commands:

bootrec /fixmbr
bootrec /fixboot

rebooted. ubuntu still in boot options. how can fix this? want remove traces of it. installed alongside, , on windows 8 didnt use wubi. have 2 options ubuntu in boot options, both identicle names, neither deleted runnung commands "work". help?

those bios repair commands, not uefi commands. commands did not corrupt windows install.
have windows 8 pre-installed secure boot. need windows 8 repaircd or may need go uefi menu , remove ubuntu entries. uefi has own memory , saves entries.

not sure if when running boot-repair, did run rename files function? if need rename first or restore windows efi file.
if did this, run second part.
perform this, run boot-repair --> adv options --> tick "backup , rename efi files" --> apply
reboot pc uefi/bios , chose ubuntu, , please tell observe.
please enable secureboot in bios, run boot-repair --> advanced options --> "grub options" tab --> tick "secureboot" --> apply.
undo & rename files original names, need tick "restore efi backups" option of boot-repair.
user disabled secure boot, , unchecked in boot-repair. bypasses grub , goes straight in windows.

windows uefi install should have backup of bootmgfw.efi here:
c:\windows\boot\efi\bootmgfw.efi working windows x86_64 installation.

enter uefi menu, select "boot maintenance manager", "boot options", "add boot option", "no volume label,....primary,slave...1, gpt,..", browse /efi/ubuntu/ folder via uefi boot menu, , select grubx64.efi . give name want (eg "precise"), "commit changes , exit", enter.
, remove entries uefi remembers them.
uefi system shows ubuntu. delete ubuntu entry & reboot couple of times & resets defaults including drives & usb ports.

gather never got ubuntu dual boot correctly?
