Any ideas for fuzzing out on-screen date/time?

i'm digitizing precious family videos friend.

sadly, in 99% of them left on-screen date/time stamp turned on , it's quite distracting, covering 10% vertical/ 25% horizontal near lower left corner of picture. (typical solid white blocky text w/ black edges)

i'm curious if has ideas and/or experience reducing visibility of such artifacts.

well, 1 use track matte, restrict heavy gaussian blur imprinted data only, not sure better. try short clip, see if better, or not.

duplicate clip, placing on video track 2, above original. apply gaussian blur, , experiment amount of blur. then, create mask (this can done in titler), track matte, show area of blurred time/date stamp, , place on video track 3. apply track matte key effect blurred duplicate clip, linking mask on video track 3. render part of timeline, , view. note: 1 can soften edges of mask applying blur that, well.

good luck, , hope better.
