How do I replace the font in an invisible text item that affects printing the document?

when print pdf, message states there problem font. font adobe optima. have tried replace optima optima lt std medium, there must remaining space or other "invisible" character/s in pdf still in optima. how locate these , delete them or change font if still needed in document? if knew text item search it, if invisible...?

something try - works me. using acrobat xi - tool location , terminology may vary.

- save file new filename in case goes horribly wrong!

- embed fonts (unless embedded): tools > print production > preflight > under "pdf fixups", embed fonts [usually works - once in while run font cannot embedded]

- unembed troublesome font: file > save other > optimized pdf > select fonts checkbox, in font unembedding settings move troublesome font right pane. [this tend have troubles. not embedded fonts may listed. if troublesome font not listed, know of no way unembed it.]

- tools > print production > preflight > under "pdf analysis", list text using non-embedded fonts.

seems there should easier way. maybe more knowledge come rescue. if not, luck!
