Thread: 12.10 macbook air install boot problems after hard drive replacement

i had ssd installed ino late 2008 macbook air. old drive clicking, hard drive failure eminent, , time replace , upgrade.

picked blank computer repair show, threw ubuntu usb stick in , there "ntfsb ctrl + alt + delete restart" error. wrote exact acronym down somewhere else , can find tomorrow if needed (moved passed new error now!).
tried hooking apple super drive , ubuntu livecd. same error. decided burn dvd again @ slowest speed imaginable. livecd booted... yay. thought. ran through installation (made 3 partitions, swap, /, /home). disk ejected , on reboot have grey screen , blinking folder question mark inside of it.

i've been trying sorts of solutions google hold down "c" while rebooting (which lets me connect wifi nothing else). big issue can't seem boot livecd on dvd or usb! discs , usb's work in other machines!

searches lead me believe system can't find needed boot... computer shop installed new ssd did or else going on software can fix?

thanks.
