Thread: ASUS® P8H61-MX motherboard?


anybody got experience of asus® p8h61-mx motherboard (xubuntu) 12.04 on it, using integrated graphics card.

i about to new desktop machine , the asus p8h61-mx seems mb choice of spec. not gamer, don't think need dedicated graphic card, glad hear anybody's thoughts on mb.

full spec chosen:-
cpu:
intel® core™i5 quad core processor i5-3470 (3.2ghz) 6mb cache
mb:
asus® p8h61-mx usb3/si: uatx, usb 3.0, sata 3.0gb/s
ram:
8
gb samsung dual-ddr3 1333mhz (2 x 4gb)
graphics:
integrated graphics accelerator (gpu)
hdd:
1tb 3.5" sata-iii 6gb/s hdd 7200rpm 32mb cache

the cpu has integrated graphics (on-die gpu), not motherboard..;)

check out @ intel's page, intel® core™ i5-3470 processor (6m cache, 3.60 ghz); it's: intel® hd graphics 2500

shouldn't other processor intel hd 4000 graphics , fastest possible ram - , loads of it, @ least 4-6 gb minimum; graphics performance largely depend on it. you're gonna want 1600mhz ddr3 minimum.

i'd suggest getting msi motherboard, "military class iii" model, run hd 4000 cpu:

  • msi z77 mpower
  • msi z77a-gd65
