Thread: Media Desktop "Server"

alright, have been hit , miss ubuntu world, keep trying month or , gaming side gets best of me , go windows. switched ubuntu 12.04lts , working on setting desktop media "server." still need function regular desktop don't have computer laying around make headless server with. issue how-to's finding going through , setting headless system, makes figuring out need little harder since i'm still trying ubuntu world , don't know way around much.

here wanting accomplish:
1-i have raspberry pi xbmc in living room stream media main dumb tv.
2-i want keep functioning desktop, have pull duties of media server.
3-automatically download new episodes of shows
4-automatically organize said downloads(videos in video folder, music in music folder, etc.)

i'm sure there many other things end wanting it, main things after. far have deluge , flex installed, having issues setting them going off instructions finding.

can point me in right direction? know i'm not 1 doing this.

desktop specs are:
amd phenom(tm) ii x6 1055t processor × 6
16gb ram
geforce 550ti 1gb video card
120gb sata ssd
1.5tb sata hdd

should capable of pulling both duties. need setting up.
