Thread: Unable to boot

hi,

having problem few months now. have dell d630 laptop , installed 10.04 think , upgraded 12.10. started having problems freezing. had installed in wife's sony nr110e ubuntu (currently 12.04) in dual boot xp. not have problems in laptop.

thought 12.10 issue in dell , installed 12.04 back. things ok while , again problem started , unable boot. no video nothing. connected external monitor. disconnected nothing happened. connected , fn+f8 display on external monitor.

installed zorin. ok few days , problem started again. cleaned , installed zorin afresh. same story. right not boot live cd (both zorin , 12.04).

think graphics card nvidia.

need here.

thanks

sezhian

you've given description of progressively worsening problems. suspect hardware. if able run livecd before not now, , problem seems have worsened time, indicates either motherboard going, or video card. d630 should able run modern flavours of ubuntu no problem, not case of hw being under-powered.

still have dell hw diagnostics cds? if so, may wish give try , run complete set of hw diagnostics.
