Thread: Boot Repair Didn't Work

hi,

first post here. have used ubuntu/linux on , off several years more enthusiast.

anyway sure heard thousand times here goes "i can't boot ubuntu".

have laptop pre-installed win 7.

installed win 8 dual boot win 7.

system efi, gpt partitions.

installed ubuntu 64-bit, installed fine. created 20gb partition within windows left unallocated space, installed ubuntu this. chose mount '/'.

after installation ubuntu added below duplicate entry bios: (is normal? why on earth there need have twice in boot options?)

ubuntu (p0 hitachi etc.....)
ubuntu (p0 hitachi etc.....)

ran boot repair has not worked. url is

http://paste.ubuntu.com/5685849/

, message gives me is:

"locked-esp detected. may want retry after creating /boot/efi partition (fat32, 100mb, 250mb, start of disk boot flag). can performed via tools such gparted. select partition via [seperate /boot/efi partition] option of [boot repair].

me silly ubuntu default option in bios yet see windows 7 , 8 load. ubuntu can load windows systems not own. may change bios 'windows boot manager'.

anyway, that's story if can help!

you should not have secure boot issues many having. have seen locked issue windows 8 systems , corrupted in fat32 efi partition should able write fat32 partition.
have fixed chkdsk, have backup efi partition idea anyway. delete efi partition. gparted create new efi partition formatted fat32 , gparted right click manage flags use boot flag make efi partition gpt partitioning. have new uuid, grub & fstab entries have updated boot-repair or manually.

grub-efi fails install input/output error - locked efi
