Thread: Which Laptop?

i've been desktop user years (building own) looks may need move in mum few months , doesn't have space desktop setup i'm going have laptop.

based on budget , required specs i've whittled down choice of two:

samsung 350v5c 15.6-inch laptop (silver) - (intel core i7 3630qm 2.4ghz processor, 8gb ram, 1tb hdd, dvdsm dl, lan, wlan, bt, webcam, integrated graphics, windows 8)
lenovo ideapad z580 15.6 inch laptop-gunmetal (intel core i7-3520, 8gb ram, 1tb hdd, dvdrw, lan, wlan, bt, webcam, integrated graphics, windows 8)

can see both have similar specs , both £599 on amazon.

samsung reportedly has random build quality issues (but exchange if duff one) touchpad apparently feels bit cheap. screen though matt , anti-reflective (big plus) , has better processor.
lenovo reportedly has build quality , great keyboard/touchpad screen apparently reflective.

have experience ubuntu on these? i've seen few posts regarding lenovo guess lenovo easy enough deal secure boot haven't read regarding samsung.

do have have windows on machine?

if not needed , don't want dual boot have @ novatech , pcspecialist, both of whom produce great hardware , let have machine without windows, saving cash, though prices seem good..
