Thread: Ubuntu Server constantly wants a reboot

i have ubuntu server 12.04.2 3.2.0-39-generic x86_64 running in vm on esxi 5.0. i'm using minecraft server , runs well. however, seems every time ssh vm check on things, see message: *** system restart required ***
it's not automatically updating, , there's not updates available.

i'm new linux, can find way around example, don't know causes message displayed. there's flag somewhere gets set display text... , i'm trying find out can/is setting flag. hear how linux doesn't need many reboots windows box seems every week, multiple times week, it's prompting me reboot i'm looking figuring out why.

not updating eh, how come has kernel released month or 2 ago , has been replaced 3.2.0-40 in last day or so?

updating, , reboot prompts because wants run new kernel updated to. no point hiding messages whatsoever.
