Thread: Why is apache2 starting on my 12.10 desktop?

this 12.10 running on laptop latest updates.
since getting latest kernel update see messages when booting. ones end in [ok] precede splashscreen.
rough initialisation of video card, white screen black "noise" split second.
have noticed apache2 being started. have searched system logs not found anything.
"top" command not show it.
following "ps" how find starts it?

code:
coldraven@happy:~$ ps ax | grep apache2 1172 ? ss 0:00 /usr/sbin/apache2 -k start 1174 ? s 0:00 /usr/sbin/apache2 -k start 1175 ? sl 0:00 /usr/sbin/apache2 -k start 1176 ? sl 0:00 /usr/sbin/apache2 -k start 25811 pts/0 s+ 0:00 grep --color=auto apache2
thanks

the easiest way find out try removing apache2. when asking confirmation want remove apache, list packages on system depend on apache2 , need removed. of course, once know, can hit n cancel removal of apache.
